I am experiencing pain (a burning sensation)and inflammation at the base of my toenails on my big toe. Can anyone tell me what this possibly might be or the causes.

You may have an exostosis which is an enlarged piece of bone in your toe that is causing pressure and therefore burning when you wear shoes. You should see a podiatrist to be diagnosed properly.
