PERCUTANEOUS FOOT SURGERY

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Jul 06, 2001 9:36 pm

I WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU HEARD OF THIS PROCEDURE, WHERE FOOT PROBLEMS SUCH AS HAMMER TOES CAN BE FIXED THROUGH PINHEAD-SIZED PUNCTURES. FOOT TRAUMA IS GREATLY DECREASED,AND NO STITCHES OR PINS AR NEEDED. I HAVE A HAMMER TOE AND A CLAW TOE ON THE SECOND TOES OF BOTH OF MY FEET,AND I WANTED TO KNOW, IF THIS PROCEDURE IS ANY GOOD? THANKS ADAM

Hammertoe surgery typically requires an incision that is about 1-2 cm long. Therefore, it is very small normally. If people are making just a pinhead-sized incision, they are just cutting the tendon and hoping it works. I would stick with the traditional, slightly larger incision.
