STILL SWOLLEN AFTER 3 MONTH SURGERY

Post a new topicby CarolinFla on Sat Feb 09, 2008 12:48 pm

Can anyone tell me if it's normal to still have a very swollen toe following hammertoe surgery? My second toe is about twice it's original size even though all soreness is gone. Will it always be like this?
Thanks for any comments.

long term edema after hammertoe surgery is unusual...if this was a second toe then the likelihood of scar tissue is statistically greater...ultrasound physical therapy and exercises will improve the condition...a steroid injection may also be considered...tincture of time(6-12 months) will likely resolve the issue for you...
