Heel Pain

My heel pain started about 2 weeks ago.
In the morning when getting out of pain, I can’t walk without extreme pain in my heels. I had x-rays last week that showed arthritis. I have to see an orthopedic doctor next week.
During the day the pain subsides a little but it is still painful to walk. The pain is strongest after sitting or laying down or if I am on my feet for a prolonged time. What could have caused this and is there a cure? I am really incompacitated by this.
