Severe heel pain, been to several Dr’s and no relief.

I have severe heel pain (including tingling, burning and sharp shooting pains) on bottom of foot, inner heel where the heel pad meets the soft arch (not back of foot). In both feet (equally). I’ve had plantar fasciitis surgery…pain is worse. I’ve had bone scan-no fractures seen. I’ve had MRI-no soft tissue damage seen. Blood testing…no inflammation seen. Had nerve conduction test and immediately was crying because pain was too severe to bear. I’ve had c...Read the full article

I, too, have severe heel pain and it has been chronic for about 18 months this episode. I had my first bout with plantar fasciitis about five years ago and after about one year, they got better. But no this time. I have custom made inserts, I've had cortisone shots in the heel, oral steroids, anti-inflammatory meds, iced, heat, massage therapy, you name it, I've had it. I also had surgery five weeks ago for a synovial cyst in my lower back that was pressing on sciatic nerve. I had immediate foot pain relief. Only until I started to walk for back surgery recovery. Then the dreaded foot and heel pain returned. My feet hurt and burn from the metarsal to the heel to the ankle now. No relief. I don't know where to turn.

I really feel for you. Maybe this will help both of us. I, too, have had spine surgeries. Two, in fact. About 4 months ago, I realized I had a bunion. The ortho ordered me orthodics, which I began wearing 6 weeks ago. I followed instructions, slowly increasing wear time. Well, since I have chronic pain from the surgeries, I was laying around most of the day for a period of 3-4 days. After that, I went out & wore the orthodics for about 3-4 hrs.

Wow, the next 4-5 days, I could hardly walk! The first 2 days, I couldn't walk at all, with my sweet wife having to bring me everything. I had severe burning, pain, and a strange 'numbness'. I kept the foot elevated until I saw my orthopedist. He told me I just had plantar fasciitis, & to do a simple exercise by leaning forward against a wall, with my bad foot extended back.

Since then, the trend keeps getting worse. I continue to do the exercises, but it doesn't help. Now, even when I don't wear the orthodics, & just walk around the house sporadically, laying with my foot elevated, I still have the burning, numbing pain. It's strange, but other times, it feels cold. I don't know if you have experienced any of this, but please reply. I would like to hear what your symptoms are.
