heel pain

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu May 09, 2002 6:44 pm

I have told that i have bone spurs in my heel (bottom and also back of heel). I was told surgery was an option also cortisone treatments. My fatherinlaw had laser surgery about eighteen years ago but I cannot find the doctor that did it. I presume he has retired. My family physican knows of no one who does this. I live in Ontario, Canada and am wondering if you have heard of laser surgery being done to correct this problem. I am in my forties and still play baseball and hockey and find that because of the pain I might have to give up my sporting activities. thank you for any info you can provide

It has been proven that using a laser is no better than regular instrumentation and can be more dangerous. Also, I have never heard of using a laser to remove a bone spur. I can tell you that traditional surgery is very effective and will allow you to continue playing sports.
