Heel Pain

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Sep 18, 2002 11:14 am

I am 62, 6' tall, 175 lbs and in generally good health.
About a third of the way left to right, in the middle of my heel is a small lump that is the center of pain I feel when walking. With my walking shoes which have a soft spot in the middle heel, my morning 30 minute up hill walk is uncomfortable but nothing more. However, after that, the pain is worse making it, sometimes more, sometimes less difficult to walk normally the rest of the day.
An X-ray, according to my general practicioner, shows nothing abnormal.
I live in Guatemala where finding a doctor in whom one can have confidence is problematic.

You most likely have a bursa, cyst or fibroma since the x-ray shows no problems. If it was a bursa, it could be injected with a steroid to calm the inflammation . However, if ity is a cyst or fibroma, it may need to be surgically removed. If the pain continues to worsen, you should try to find a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
