Heel Pain

About 3 weeks ago I went over on the side of my foot in a way I'm sure most of us have done. It was okay, just a little sore. There may be no connection but I've developed an intermittent pain/tenderness on my heel and only sometimes when I move my foot in a particular way, I get a painful hot tearing feeling along the outside edge of my foot. The problem occurs when the movement is turning my foot inover. A bit of self diagnosis ... maybe I've damaged a ligament. Any idea what the best treatment might be to get this back on track. It doesn't stop me walking, but it's a nuisance, and painful when it happens .. and I don't want to cause further damage.
