Plantar fascia returns?Hi. I had a plantar fascia tear about 5 years ago. I was in a cast, crutches, etc. and out of commission for about 8 months. However, I regained total mobility - returned to playing tennis - 2-3 times a week. I bought a treadmill about 4 weeks ago- and OUCH, it feels like it did 5 years ago. I feel like I hurt it again. Wouldn't it be totally healed? We bought a good treadmill, too with cushioned deck. What do you think should help? Rest it or run it?
Re: Plantar fascia returns?Do not run on it.When areas heal, they heal with scar tissue that is not as good as the original tissue. Therefore, it is an area that can be reinjured. Treadmills (even the best ones) cause extra stress on your feet versus walking or jogging outside. Therefore, a treadmill should not be used as the primary source of exercise. You should rest your foot and if the pain continues, see a doctor as soon as possible so you can be diuagnosed properly. Good luck and please write back if you have any further questions.

Re: Re: Plantar fascia returns?Guess what? On one good note, my heel etc seems to be okay. I do not think the plantar fascia returned. BUT, I have another problem. The top of my foot that would connect from the outer side ankle to the inner side is very tight, very very slightly swollen (like 10%), and very irritated. I do not know what this area is even called to look for info on it. Are they a bunch of tendons or ligaments. I sometimes wear my tennis shoes, when I switch to 1.5" heels at work it almost seems to feel better. How could heels make it feel better. Any help is muchly appreciated.
Thank you
Do not run on it. When areas heal, they heal with scar tissue that is not as good as the original tissue...
