A toenail lifted

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

Injured my large toe a few months back. After injury I noticed toenail a very lifeless yellow color. toenail had lifted no longer attached to nail bed. only attachement is left is around cuticle at back of nail. IF I leave alone, will it eventually grow out or fall off? I have cut dead nail back to about 1/3 inch of quick, now am wondering if I wait will rest heal elf?

An injury to a nail may also injure the nail bed from which it grows. Therefore, you may want to see a podiatrist for a proper examination and diagnosis. If the nail is detached, it may interfere with new nail growth. Therefore, please have the nail looked at by a podiatrist. Good luck and if you have any further questions, please write back.
