deformed nails

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Jun 10, 2002 6:42 pm

The small toes of both of my feet have nails that grow up from the nail bed, rather than out and over the toe. What would have caused this and is there any way to correct it. They have been like this for as long as I can remember.

It really looks rather strange and I need to keep them clipped rather short so as not to interfere with shoes. It is also embarassing when I wear sandals.

Is there any help for this?!

Thanks

There are many causes for deformed nails. However, the two most likely are that there is a bone under the nail bed that is too large and causing it to grow upwards or you have a fungus in your nail. Both are very treatable so you should see a podiatrist for a proper diagnosis and learn more about your treatment options. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
