Ingrowing toenails - but different!

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Dec 17, 2002 9:36 pm

I have a toenail condition very similar to ingrowing toenails but have been unable to find a name or a cure for it. My nails grow like claws and the sides of the nail actually meet in the middle in some of them. I have seen (20 years ago) several of the top dermatologists in London who claim never to have seen anything like it before. This condition occurred at a very stressful period of my life and has been incredibly painful - so much so that I could hardly walk. I have since discovered for myself that it is stressful circumstances that cause the pain to recur. I can control the stress now, and thus control the pain, but my toenails remain very unsightly and it takes me several hours to cut them, having to be careful not to cut my skin. Has anybody heard of this problem before? If so, is there a cure?
