No TitleMy grson of 4 months has had a swollen big toe since just after his birth. GP said it an ingrown toenail prescribed antibiotics. However inflammation has re-occurred again only solution he can give is more anti-biotics. He did say is amost unusual condition a baby normally happens to teenagers or athletes. Have any advice me, or an alternative solution as my daughter is very unhappy at having to give a f month old baby antibiotics twice already. Would an alternative be to have toenail removed ?
Re:Removing a toenail would be a possibility depending on the severity. However, if it is infected, antibiotics would still be necessary. I would bring the baby to a pediatrician and also a podiatrist. If you can find a podiatrist who specializes in pediatrics, that would be the best doctor to see. These types of specialist will have more experience with these problems and be able to give you the best treatment options. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
