Question on ingrown toe nail surgeryHi,
I had surgery yesterday on my big toe to remove part of nail due to an ingrown toe nail. A compressor bage-type thing put on toe afterwards, I told to keep it on 48 hs, not to walk on my foot. After , I told to take bage off keep it covered a baid until soreness went away. all. He said I don't need to soak it or do anything else it. Is right? Everyone else I know has had surgery told to soak it, to take antibiotics, etc. Should I be doing also? if y just removed part of nail, when it grows back, won't it just grow back into skin? would make it not? (P.S. I didn't not get from wearing tight shoes... I live in a warm climate usually wear open-toed sels.) I appreciate r help. Thank !
Re: Question on ingrown toe nail surgeryAll doctors have slightly different treatment plans. All ingrown toenails are not the same. Some are infected while others are very mild. Therefore, if you are concerned about soaking it, you should call your doctor and ask him. The nail matrix is where the nail grows out of. When an ingrown toenail is removed, the nail matrix can or cannot be removed. However, if this is the first ingrown nail you have ever had, the matrix is typically left and the nail is normally allowed to grow back. However, if the ingrowing reoccurs, then the matrix can then be burned chemically so it does not grow back. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
