I do not think my toe nail is ingrown, I do think pushing of my toe against my big toe caused something. re looks like a flap of skin is infected on top of a little bit of nail it is pussy, yet not all time. It does hurt though. DOes sound like something know about?

It sounds like you do in fact have an ingrown toenail. An ingrown toenail is a very serious situation if left untreated. It can lead to an infection that could then enter your blood stream and cause complex problems like sepsis. This is not an exaggeration. Even if you do not have insurance for this coverage, you need to be looked at by a podiatrist so the offending nail and the skin that sounds infected can be treated properly. Please do not hesitate.

My doctor told me my toenail is ingrown and prescribed antibiotics. Do I still need the nail removed by a podiatrist even if the infection is cleared up? How painful is that procedure? I can't stand the thought of a needle in my already sore toe! I am also worried that she misdiagnosed me, because I had 2 similar spots on other toes within a two week period that cleared up on their own. Is there any other condition it could possibly be?
