swollen toe?

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

I had surgery to remove part of my toenail due to an infection/ingrown toenail f days ago. My foot toe is still swollen ( throbbing)-- in fact, more than it even two days after surgery. Is normal? toe surgery on is also black blue, although might be due to needles anessia. front of toe still looks infected, part of a where toenail removed is white raised... to me it looks like puss under skin -- or is scabbing looks like? My doctor just dismissed my questions said he's sure it's fine.. I don't know him well I don't know if I trust answer. My insurance won't cover a second opinion, so it would be out-of-pocket. Is something I shoud worry about? Thank so much!

Toes can look pretty ugly after a nail is removed. Therefore, it may be normal. However, if the pain continues, you have the right to go back to the same doctor and have it looked at again. Therefore, keep an eye on it and if it gets worse, demand to see the doctor. If nothing is wrong, it will only take two minutes of his time to check it. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
