Toe Nail Removed

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Aug 14, 2002 1:01 pm

Several years ago I had a nail permenantly removed from my left big toe. The doctor did not get it all. A tiny piece tries to grow in one corner. Is this common? Can it be removed also? Furthermore, there is now a ridge down the center of my toe where the nail used to be. Can this be corrected so that it is smooth? I love going barefoot and/or wearing sandals, but I am also concerned about the cosmetics of that toe.

The little piece of nail can definitely be removed permanently so it does not regrow. The ridge may be more difficult depending on what is causing it. However, when you see the podiatrist for the remaining nail, he or she will be able to explain the ridge as well and let you know about treatment options. Have a nice day.
