Lyme Disease

Post a new topicby brandywell on Tue Feb 26, 2008 7:05 am

I was in Poland last year (September) and was bitten on the lower left leg by an unknown insect which apparently had crawled up inside my trousers. The bite was very itchy but reduced after application of a recommended salve.

When I arrived home to England the bite area swelling went down but since this time a strange itchy patch has grown round the bite and is spreading. We have tried cortisone ointment but the patch continues to spread. I also notice that when wearing socks my left leg swells at the ankle and even the loosest sock top still causes a depressed groove.

I have had an arrythmia for a number of years prior to this event and I am on a course of Warfarin and Blood Pressure tablets.

Recently, I seem to have developed a sort of dyslexic symptom where I type letters out of order, something I have never done before... My ankles and wrists hurt and my shoulders hurt as well. My wedding ring has become so tight I have had to have it expanded by a jeweler to relieve the constriction. I have had asthma all my life which is treated with inhalers.

My doctor has tried a variety of treatments but I have a feeling that he has not seen the obvious. Or am I being a hypochrondriac.

Can anyone help please ?? Should I take advice elsewhere ??
