Having Surgery Next Week

Post a new topicby livingwith on Thu May 08, 2008 2:32 pm

I have been diagnosed with Morton’s Neuroma for nearly 2 years now. I have always worn high-heels for 20 some years. Apparently a big mistake that I am paying for now.
When I first went to the doctor it was for my right foot which had become very painful after a “power shopping” excursion for Christmas. I was convinced that I had a stress fracture since the pain did not go away. At the same time my left foot felt like I was standing on a hard rock with the ball of my foot....Read the full article

I have Morton Neuroma for a year and I tried everything including aqupuncture which was painful too. I am going to see my doctor next week to ask for surgery and see what he is going to say. It is painful even at night I wake up with a dream of a pain and when I open my eyes I see my self with a terrible pain. I have night pain at least 3 times a week. I am so frustrated. I hope you can get a good result after the surgery.

Hi, i read your comments and i know the pain your going through! I'm male, and have been dealing with Morton's for over 3 years now. I had an M R I done and was told that they saw nothing?? My right foot is a lot worse than the Left and my doctor doesn't seem to want me to have surgery, so i take pain meds, which has problems of their own. So my question to you is this.......How did you get your Doctor to agree with surgery?.......Please help!

Mri's do not pick up developing neuromas as much as Ultrasound guided injections. That is where you can pinpoint the actual SIZE in mm!!!!!!!!! I am with you....know your pain....suffered for 2 years of limping with local podiatrists. Pathetic.

Finally went to a very well known orthopedic hospital and was diagnosed with neuromas.

I know your frustration. I am so sorry. I am post surgery now and it took a long time to get a million different opinions. Don't give up. Your pain is real. And do not expect anyone to understand.

Thank you very much for your understanding of this, because there were times where i thought { maybe i'm nuts?]. Good luck to you with surgery and i hope it all works out, maybe you could post how you feel after surgery and if it took care of the problem? Brian.

As I had said in my post, I am POST surgery. Are you getting this done with a podiatrist? Have you been given a lot of written information for what to expect pre and post-surgery? I am sure it will go great. Brian, what is your alternative??????
