Post a new topicby livingwith on Mon Sep 08, 2008 11:13 am

I have been suffering from foot pain for over the past 8 months. I play softball 4 times a week. the season has not ended but it has for me. i couldnt stand the pain anymore. I had surgery today 9/5/08 after unsuccessful injections. the doc said that the tumor was as big as a tostie roll and that i will feel instant relief. I look forward to that and getting back to playing ball in the spring. More to follow…..

Hi Gina,
I look forward to hearing how everything went. I have had pain for over 6 months. I tend to ignore pain and just work on through it, however this was getting worse. My doc referred me to an orthopedic guy and I saw him this morning. He says it is Morton's Neuroma.

He has one also, but not as severe as mine. He said in severe cases it will cause the toes to spread and that is what mine are doing. It burns all the time and it really kills me by the end of the day. He said cortizone shots my work temporarily but he recommends surgery. He said it is just a small incision on the top of the foot, I wear a black sandal for 10 days then I'm good to go. They will give something for pain. With surgery, he explained, it will not return.

I've had a cortizone shot in my other foot before for a pinched nerve. One shot worked, however I'd rather go through child birth again than have another needle inserted in the bones between my toes. It was the most painful thing I think I have ever experienced. I know I could not go through cortizone shots every three to six months to live with this neuroma. I told the doc I would do some on line research and let him know.

I think I'm going to just get the surgery done. I'm tired of limping and hurting. I want to be normal again! Let me know how yours goes! I'm thinking it will all be good. Anything is better than continuing to hurt!!

Thanks!!
Robin
