Ms JJI had a Mortons Neuroma removed Sept. 07… Right away, (post-op) I had a this pain on the sole of my foot. Now my POD told me the pain is a classic sign of a STUMP Neuroma and only surgery will take care of it. 3 weeks totally off the foot TOTALLY!!! Re: Ms JJHi Ms JJ
I too have had a Morton's neuroma removed, from both feet. 12 years ago I had my right foot done and 10 years ago my left foot. About 2 years ago I started getting the pain again, exactly in the same place, I thought the neuroma had formed again. After getting a steroid injection which didn't work, I was given an MRI scan which showed nothing. They decided to perform an exploratory operation to see what was going on, 3 months ago. I saw my consultant for the first time when I went for my pre-op appointment and he said that he was querying a 'stump' neuroma. After surgery I was told that an inflamed nerve was removed and some old scar tissue. I had a 4 inch cut from between my toes to the arch of my foot and was given no aftercare advice. Even had to ask for crutches!! (but anyway, I digress). It has been 3 months since surgery and I have the pain back again. First of all I thought that maybe it was just the wound healing but I'm now back at work and have the exact same pain again as I had before, and also more frequent than before, which is not good. Basically, the operation has failed. I have to get an instep fitted for my footwear, hopefully that will alleviate some of the pressure and help with the pain. It also gets really painful when my foot heats up in footwear. I am now going to have to try to manage the pain as another operation will probably be unsuccessful. You are right not to go under the knife again.
