10 days after MN surgeryI had surgery for MN on the 16th. I came home in alot of pain and kept my foot elevated for the next several days. I was sent home with a shoe that was velcro on top and was told to where it when I walked, but I couldn't stand to put any weight on my foot at all. I went back to the doctor on mon. the 22nd and he took the dressing off and told me most people were walking fine by now. He treats me like I am wanting to hurt. He told me to try to put weight on it as I could and to come back next week and he would remove the stitches. I have been trying to walk since Monday and can only put weight on the heel of my foot, I have alot of numbness on the side of my foot and in my big toe, I told the doctor this and he just said there was no reason for that numbness since he didn't do anything to my big toe. I know I am not crazy and I feel what I feel, and I am not just a baby when it comes to pain, I usually bounce back from things really quickly. I just would like some advice from someone who has had this and would like to know what their experience was likel
Re: 10 days after MN surgeryI am really surprised that they gave you a shoe and said you could start walking on it right away. My first surgery it was over a week before my doctor would let me start walking and with this past surgery it will be 3 weeks. It takes alot longer for the pain to go away than they say. I don't like your doctors attitude. Maybe consider seeing another one?
Re: 10 days after MN surgeryhow many times has your doctor done this surgery? the boot right away doesn't surprise me so much -- i've had surgery on both feet, and i had the velcro boot both times, even they were two different doctors, in two different towns, in two different decades. But your surgeon's reply to numbness in other parts of your foot remind me of a dentist who managed to novacain my eye rather than my tooth once... not good. I might make an appointment for a second opinion.
Re: 10 days after MN surgeryYes i think it is very played down this operation, people don't realise how disabling it is. I am on day 8 and my stitches come out next week but my wound still looks open. I too have numbness and some strange sensations going on, I hope you feel better quickly as its horrible I know, but I have learned more through this forum than from my doctor.
