Morton's Neuroma

Been diagnosed, tried all the conservative treatments, finally decided to opt for the surgery. However, Kaiser will not do this until the alcohol injections (sclerosing the nerve) are first tried. Unfortunately, this is not working for me, and my podiatrist has now recommended the surgery. Has anyone out there been through the shots, then opted for the surgery, and if so, what's the success rate ? I keep reading about the stump neuromas that form, yet I see up to an 85% success rate for the surgery. I just wonder if the shots were unsuccessful, what about the surgery ? Sure miss hiking and exercising....and so sad about giving away 40 pairs of high heels, sigh.
