Cast?I have MN in both feet and have had the shots and it looks like I am heading towards surgery. Pod says I will be in a cast for six weeks and then a walking boot for two weeks. He will do one foot a time. Don't seem to read anything about people being in a cast after surgery. Any comments would be appreciated.
Re: Cast?I had a cast after my surgery. It was lighter when using my crutches. The boot is heavier and I was afraid I would be tempted to put my foot on the floor. I was in a cast a week after my surgery and had it on for 3 weeks. Then my boot for 2 weeks and of yesterday, I can now walk on my foot but since this time I had the incision on the bottom of my foot, it is a still painful to walk on so I am wearing padded adidas flip flops and slippers. I can already tell though that it is getting better day by day. Good luck!
Re: Cast?when i had my surgery 8 years ago they went in through the top of my foot.. thereby severing the nerve to my 3rd and 4th toe.. it is an easier procedure to recover from but leaves the toes numb. I have recently read that another option is to go through the bottom of the foot.. much longer recovery but easier to reach the neuroma and less damage to the nerve.
I dont know what to recommend as just last week my neuroma in my left foot has come back after 8 years of being pain free!!.. I was told this could happen if the nerve ending grew back. I am not a very happy gal presently! Oh well.
