Complications

Post a new topicby stewbus37 on Mon May 04, 2009 12:30 am

I too had surgery for my mortons neuroma on Feb.19. My small scar on the top of my foot looks great. My doctor put stitches inside and butterflys on top. In the morning when I get up, you can barely even see it. The problem is I am still in major pain. I went for another cortisone shot the other day and it isn't helping. The doctor believes that I have a neuroma stump which may require a second surgery with the incision on the bottom of the foot. I am just tired of the pain. Has anyone else had this complication?

Hi. I had a neuroma 11 years ago that turned into, what my doc said, was a "true neuroma".I think it is the same thing as a stump.I have had 5 surgeries! 3 on the top & 2 on the bottom of my foot.I still have pain. They have removed 3 neuromas, then cut & tucked(whatever that is) my nerve. Now my foot is a painful numb.I don't know if that makes any since to you but that's how it feels. It is very painful when I even cut my toenails. I can't be on my feet for long before it starts to hurt again.I am searching for other docs to get more opinions. Now I have a neuroma growing in my other foot & I am scared it will be like my right foot. I don't know what to do. I really hope you don't go through what I am going through.Good luck.

Thank you, I am about at my wits end. People i work with look at me like it is all in my head. It has gotten to the point where i have to take motrin and percoset just to get dishes done or laundry washed. i go back to the doctors on monday and I am so ready to have the stump removed. The doctors seem to act like neuroma surgery is no big deal. My doctor told me I would be up and around in 4 to 6 weeks, Almost 3 months later I can barely walk.I have 2 daughters that I have to take to appointments and run around doing things for them. Driving is getting to be very painful too. I am married but my husband is in the military and he is stationed somewhere else until he retires so I get no help there. How do you manage the little things? My son is getting married this fall and I am going to have to fly there with a couple of layovers, ugh. I hope you get relief because i know how you feel.Good luck!
