Has ANYONE had MN surgery successfully?I'm going in Oct 1 for MN surgery. I can't stand the pain anymore but as I read through these posts, it doesn't seem that there is anything positive. I don't want to go through this for nothing. Has this worked for anyone?
Re: Has ANYONE had MN surgery successfully?Hi. I had bilateral Moretons Neuroma surgery on the 1st of May, and so far am pleased with it. Yeah it was difficult in the begining - especially having to crawl for 2 weeks. But I expected it to take some time till I felt a benefit - in reality 2 months before I was completely mobile and now everything is great.
My surgery was from the sole of the foot. The amount of scar tissue is minimal. I do still have some funny sensations and partially numb toes. BUT no actual pain. Be prepares for a couple of months of discomfort, but rest assured their are successful surgeries for this condition. Good luck with it!
Re: Has ANYONE had MN surgery successfully? It's ten months since I had my surgery for MN. I did everything I was told to do by my doc, even lost two stones in weight... Anyway, now I'm just about to go back to clinic for another scan, my foot is now filled with scar tissue where the neuroma was removed from.
I really think that it depends on the shape of a person's feet that disposes them to MN. I am also really scared at the prospect of forming anymore on other toe joints which is very possible. I hope there have been successful operations on other patients, I would like to think there have been. I have been a really good patient (followed doctors orders to the letter) and I'm still in a mess with my foot.
Re: Has ANYONE had MN surgery successfully?Hiya,
I had my Mortons Neuroma operated on 22nd May, it was operated through the top of my foot so didn't take as long to heal as if they went through the bottom. It was quite painful and my main problem was the swelling of my foot too. So was on crutches for ages. Although now i am pain free, but, still have numbness and weird feeling when i walk. I would put up with that than the pain i was in before I had the op. If i was you if you have the choice go through the top rather than the bottom. Ive got to go back for check up soon so hopefully that will be that. Good luck with your op, and as you can see by mine you can have a positive outcome . Yours sincerely Tracey
Re: Has ANYONE had MN surgery successfully?I had surgery in Apr 08 with no complications at all. The scarring is minimal as is the numbness. I have a very slight intermittent soreness around the nail on my 3rd toe but the pain from the neuroma is gone. The recovery was uneventful, fairly quick, not too painful as well. I had bunion surgery in 2000 by the same Doc and the recovery from that was way way worse. All of this was done on my right foot.
Unfortunately I have another neuroma between my 2nd and 3rd toes on the same foot and will be going back under the knife in Feb. If I have any more issues with that foot I may just tell them to cut the bloody thing off.
