Just got out of surgery a few hours ago.....Well, I had my surgery this morning. I've been home for awhile. So far so good because my foot is totally numb. He said that the neuroma was up tight against the bone, and so when I would walk the neuroma would be pinched between my bottom of my foot and bone. So he got it out, and he said everything looked good. I'll let you know how I feel when the numbness goes away!! Glad it's over!
Re: Just got out of surgery a few hours ago.....I also had surgery Friday morning. Had neuroma removed between 3rd and 4th toe and would like to know how your recovery goes. I am keeping my foot elevated and have not had much pain. But, as you write, it has been numb and my foot is wrapped very tight. Keep us posted with the details on how it's going. I am a very active person (run and work out regularly) and it's killing me to sit with my leg up all day but I will do it to recovery properly.
Re: Just got out of surgery a few hours ago.....Hi!
Well it's been 3 days since my surgery and all seems to be OK. I have on one of those little sandel-like shoes and all that. I have been using the walker so that I don't hurt my foot OR my right knee which will need replacement this year. The couple of times I put a little weight on the incision on my foot it really hurt! So I've been trying to be real careful, and I'm mostly in my recliner. Get the bandages off tomorrow--to just be replaced, I think, and then stitches out in two weeks. The doc called me that evening to see how I was doing...he said the incision was about 2" long. I thought it would be smaller than that. Sayles1, I hope your recovery goes well too! I'm not an active person AT ALL, but I'm hoping it will heal up well enough that it doesn't bother me.......And I hope yours does too so that you can get back to your activities!
Re: Just got out of surgery a few hours ago.....My doctor just kind of let things up to me. He said to be as active as my foot allows. No real restrictions. I'm not active anyway......but I do occasionally have to walk! It's tender, stitches were taken out just a couple of days ago. It feels better just having the stitches out. I'm able to wear my regular shoes and it doesn't hurt as bad when I walk. I'm having to massage it alot because I tend to get scar tissue.
