MN after bunionectomySooo are most people just have MN? Or how did it come about?? For me it was immediately after my bunionectomy..is this normal? Is this something that was caused from having the bunionectomy or a possible risk of surgery?? Anyone know?? its getting worse as it is now painful across all my toes...
Re: MN after bunionectomyYes it is normal. My neuroma developed a year or so after my bunionectomy. The bunion developed after dancing in tight (small toe box) pointy high heels for years. To replace the dancing actitivity, I started hiking in non-hiking shoes which only aggravated the situation.
My MN treatment was anti-inflamatory injections, sometimes cortisone. I only wear flats now. I buy "wide width" shoes now. Which are really more "medium" than the medium widths sold in shoe stores. And I have non-custom orthotics in my shoes that I purchased online. I took all my high heels to a cobbler who cut the heels down and I got rid of all the shoes with a small toe box. You must get to a podiatrist and start with injections. And you must change your shoes immediately. The longer the neuroma is swollen the more damage it will do to the nerve.
