MN in both feet...second toe rising up and overI have MN in both feet between the 2nd and 3rd toes. With good shoes and just being careful not to overdo the walking, they are really not inflamed now. However, the second toe on each foot is both rubbing against the big toe and the second joint is being pushed up so that, while standing still on a flat surface, the joint is pushing so hard that the skin over that joint is white. I've been to a podiatrist, there have been no x-rays or anything. His response to my concern about what is happening with the second toe was that I would eventually develop a callus on the side of my big toe and that it is not unusual for MN sufferers to get 'hammertoe' as a result. I am NOT satisfied with that response. Why should I allow myself to develop a secondary condition that will eventually also be painful? I have scheduled an appt with my family practitioner to see if he will refer me to an orthopedist or send me for x-rays. Of course, I'm not sure what my HMO will allow but it just doesn't make sense to just let another problem develop. Has anyone had the same experience with 'hammertoe?'
