Re: morton's neuroma - surgery or not?Hi Ruth. I'm glad that you've been doing well. I know what you mean about people getting tired of hearing about our feet. It's hard to not complain when they hurt so bad though. I hope you continue to improve.
I've been trying to do some gardening but it's hard to do. I get so aggravated with myself! I'd better go for now. I'm in a terrible mood today.... Debbie
Re: morton's neuroma - surgery or not?Hi Debbie - How are you doing? Have you had your MRI result yet?? Useful? Hopeful?? I've been quiet because I keep hoping I'm going to have something really positive to say. But ... walking has been pretty hard going and I went to the podiatrist again today (3rd time). The second time he told me I must NOT use the crutches but get the foot moving so I was very obedient. This time he said it's worse than when he saw it two weeks ago, not healing properly, getting too much scar tissue too quickly blah blah. And who knows why? So I feel pretty miserable to be honest, but at least I don't have bad back and neck too. How's the gardening? Mine's gone a bit wild, I've been working away from home a lot these past couple of weeks.
ANYONE READING THIS WHO'S JUST HAD SURGERY OR THINKING ABOUT IT, THINGS GOING WRONG IS NOT THE NORM. DON'T PANIC!
Re: morton's neuroma - surgery or not?Hi Ruth. I'm so sorry that you're not healing well. What's the plan now? What to do about the scar tissue? Can you massage it or does that irritate it too much? I hope it starts improving. I know how discouraging it is. It really does take a long time though. A lot longer than they lead us to believe to start with.
Well, my MRI showed herniated disc at L4-5, stenosis, and tarlov cysts in sacral spinal canal. My doctor wanted me to go to PT again but I'm not going. I just got finished going for my neck and I really couldn't tell any difference. So, I just take my muscle relaxers and pain pills and try to do all I can. I've been working outside a lot this weekend so I'm in quite a lot of pain now but there's things that I need to get done you know? Everyone fusses at me for doing stuff but no one else sees the need to do it...you know? I'm too particular anyway...not as much as I was though. Hope you had a great Mother's Day. Do you have kids? (Forgive me if I should already know this. lol) Debbie
Re: morton's neuroma - surgery or not?Hello Debbie - How are you?? I'm really sorry, those MRI results sound painful, tho' I must confess I dont understand what some of it means (and wiki doesn't help much). I know what you mean about PT, can be very soul destroying. Not long before my op in Feb I joined a pilates class as a number of my friends (especially those with 'backs') swear by it. Not as horrible as PT, tho' I really have to force myself with all that sort of stuff (REALLY hate gyms!).
I've been away for a bit, a remote house in the Scottish countryside with a number of friends (no, I don't have kids, and not said before now). I couldn't walk much, tho' discovered that VERY soft boggy ground meant much less pain in the foot. I took my bicycle and was able to do that with only the odd twinge in my foot at the time. Although there was a bit of after effect, it was great to find out I can still do some physical activity that I actually enjoy. Take care - Ruth
Re: morton's neuroma - surgery or not?Hi Ruth. How are you doing? Sorry I haven't answered sooner but I've had a lot going on. How are your feet doing? Improving?
I'm feeling a lot of frustration and yes, self-pity right now with all my spinal and foot issues. Still, it could always be worse. Hope you're doing well. Debbie
