Re: mortons neuroma and plantar fasciitisHow did your neuroma surgeries turn out? I too suffered for years. i was a teacher with two neuromas in my left foot and 3 in my right. The pain was absolutely unbearable. After having the neuromas removed, the pain diminished but was replaced with a different kind of discomfort. Feet always felt tight as if they were being squeezed in vise. Also felt cold. I was prescribed oxycontin but it was wreaking havoc with my digestive tract. I finally had to go on disability. This has been a 10 year ordeal which ultimately cost me my job and my marriage. My wife thought that I was a baby for not being able to take the pain. I didn't know how to explain to her how much agaony i was in. I noticed that when I got stressed which happened almost all the time because of the pain, the pain grew worse. I finally have have reached a relatively pain free state, but it undid my life. How have you dealt with this?

mark[/quote] Hello Mark Sorry about all the probs you have had with this awful condition, if you have not had it you cannot possibly understand hjow painful it is. How did you reach your pain free state ? I have had surgery to remove the neuroma in my right foot but it does not seem to have worked, the painful "lump" is still there. I go back to see the surgeon soon to see how it went but I am beginning to think I was better off without the surgery, at least the shoe insert gave me some pain relief for a short while although not when driving. Regards.
Re: mortons neuroma and plantar fasciitisI just had surgery on July 18th for Morton's neuroma, plantar fascitis, and a tendon platelet tear on my second toe. I am not sure if it is healing correctly because it has been a little over two weeks and I am still experiencing alot of pain in the area where the previous neuroma was. I have done exactly as the doctor told me to do and I am so ready to be pain free, which is why I resorted to surgery. I have had all conservative treatments done prior to surgery and they were unsuccessful. I am not sure if it is still too early to expect good results in the pain. I am hoping to figure out a solution to the pain problem soon! I go back for a post-op visit tomorrow so I hope they can tell me something then. I can totally relate to how you feel about the pain because I have two young children and most days I am on my feet alot. Since the surgery, I have been completely dependent upon family to help care for my children because if I am on my feet for an hour or so the pain becomes severe in the ball of my foot.
Re: mortons neuroma and plantar fasciitisHi Sue1: Sounds like you are really going through alot, my husband has really been through the mill with his neuroma, he has been dealing with it for almost three years now. Please let us all know how it goes with your dr. app.
Re: mortons neuroma and plantar fasciitisThanks for the concern. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that my incisions were healing great and everything looked normal. He said that I did not have a hematoma, which I was really glad to hear. He said that it was a little abnormal to still be experiencing so much pain, but since I had a really large neuroma removed then it was taking a little longer to heal. Since he removed a large neuroma then it created a large dead space and I was experiencing more pain than normal because the dead space is filled up with fluid. He gave me a medrol dose pak (steroid) to take for one week that he said he thought would help a great deal to reduce the fluid and inflamation in that area. I go back in one week and he said that he thought that by then it would be healed enough to where I don't have much pain anymore! I am counting down the days! He also gave me a different pain medication called Darvocet. I was so thankful that I was able to sleep good last night after taking the pain medication. I was very thankful to also feel much better today and I have not needed any pain medicine so far. I know the Lord is going to answer my prayers and help my foot to heal. I am glad that I was able to read some of the responses on this forum because it helped me to know what questions to ask my doctor yesterday. I hope that I can be of help to someone else because I think this is the hardest thing I have ever been through in my life so far!

Hi, Sue, I hope your still reading the posts on this site. I had neuroma surgery on my left foot July 08, two days before your surgery & another on my right foot in Jan. 09. As of this date neither foot is pain free. Through the first year my Dr. told me all the pain was going to go away. Now she wants me to see a neurologist. I'm wondering how your doing? Have you reached a pain free state yet? What has your Dr. told you? I too am praying to the Lord for healing. He is the only one who can help me. Regards
Re: mortons neuroma and plantar fasciitisHi Jessy- this is ndone- I have posted several times here over the last few years about my husband Bob. He has been suffering for over four years now. I recently got on Medtronics website to check out neurostimulation for pain relief, we have tried most everything else. They send you a list of Doctors in your area who implant these devices, we have an appointment with a Dr. in Fargo, ND on Nov. 4th, so here we go again looking for help for his endless pain and burning. I collected all his medical records in regard to his foot, that was a process, and have sent them ahead to the doctor. One of the doctors on the list would not accept him because he only treated certain cancer and back patients so I wrote to another one on the list and told him the "story" of my husband and a list of all the doctors and dates that my husband had seen and his secretary wrote back and said he thinks he can help him. bob also has seen a neurologist, but the only pain relief we got out of that were lidocaine patches. They do help, he is on his feet all day, says he couldn't function without them, but it sure doesn't help much, and he lives on Aleve. He is 57 years old. I am not giving up searching for an answer.
Re: mortons neuroma and plantar fasciitisHello Ndone, Thank you for the information about Medtronics. I will look it up on the net. I don't have an appt. with the neurologist until Dec. Not looking forward to it. What did your husband have done? What did the Dr. say was the cause of him still having pain? Thanks again & God Bless. Jessy
