Re: mortons neuromaHi Tracy, just read your post, surprised no one has responded. How are you doing? My husband has been dealing with this problem for over three years, so we have quite alot of experience with it. What kind of scan did you get? This is not a simple thing, but take heart there are a lot of people on this site with the same problem. Just reading through all the posts you get quite an idea of how many people are suffering with this. Hope to hear from you. Terry
Re: mortons neuromaHi - After researching my Morton's Neuroma and trying to decide what to do there are different things. You can do the steroid injections as I have done but they probably won't help. You will likely end up doing alcohol injections and will probably be successful with them as they are 94% successful. If they don't work then surgery with fix the problem. Don't live with this, get it fixed. Diam-inc
Re: mortons neuromaDo everything possible to avoid surgery - I cannot stress this enough - don't end up like me. I had multiple neuroma surgeries which is probably why I'm worse, but still I would be cautious . I found out much of mine was really metatarsalgia although I did have two neuromas - the other areas I only developed them FROM the surgery as new neuromas can grow and branch out into small nerve fibers that bother you even more - I'm a mess - I cannot drive, walk far or even wear shoes much. The cortisone destroyed my fat pad - to ZERO they said. I can only think back wishing I never had any surgery. Try foot pads, (ask your dr. about just a small pad under the metatarsal area etc) - physical therapy, massages to the feet by a licensed massage therapist, acupuncture perhaps, anything - stretches and exercises can really help - orthotics and so on - do not jump into surgery. The strange feelings you get after and the scar tissue can make you worse. I was GREAT for five years and thought the surgery was the best thing I ever did UNTIL the scar tissue came in and new nerve fibers grew and now each day is really awful in terms of my feet - I cannot stress this enough.
Re: mortons neuromaHi Terry thanks for your reply i had an ultra sound scan which diagnosed the mn it was liquid on the foot and they had a look inside the foot its like when you have a scan whem you are pregnant, I have a hospital appointment on thurs 19 march but i think that is just with the therapies dept. I am not taking any rubbish of them though as i have been in alot of pain with this and i think my husband is fed up with my moaning i will let you know how i get on.
Re: mortons neuromaHello again Tracy, my husband has also had the ultrasound, nothing showed, well in two weeks we are going to see a neurologist that I wrote to. This now is after five podiatrists and a pain clinic, where the doctor said to get MBT shoes, which we did and they help a little, very disappointed with all these doctors, but I met a women who was telling me how her doctor had helped with pain in her neck, so I wrote to him, told him my husbands story and his nurse called back and said he thinks he can help Bob with the pain. So on April 1st, we shall see. the answer is out there, God knows where it is we just need His help finding it.
