Siginificant improvement

Post a new topicby Suffeli on Wed Sep 10, 2008 8:27 am

Hi all fellow sufferers :-)

I had my neuroma really aggravated in May to July, and was in lots of pain.
I tried physical therapy and support things in my shoes etc while waiting for the doctors appointment, without any significant improvement.

The nerves were tested and found to be damaged, and I was sure that the doctor would suggest surgery. But no, he did not. He said that if the underlying cause of the problem remains, the surgery will not really help in the long term. Instead, he found problems in the alignment of my foot and tightness in the calves that was not found by the previous physical therapists.

So, I was assigned to do a st of exercises nearly similar as the previous ones, and I was not expecting them to help. Also the doctor advised me to throw out all the support parts for shoes, to avoid passivating the foot. They had been expensive, so I was not so happy about it!
But in fact, the new kind of stretches actually did start to help, and helped me also to find the tight area myself. Now, I have been dutifully practising for about 4 weeks (and have taken some massage to calves to help the stretches) and the situation is much improved. If the pain was at about "8" before, now it's about 1 or 2 at worst.

I hope this helps someone :-)
