Specific surgery recovery questionsHi all,
So glad to find this forum. After eight months I finally have a diagnosis of MN. My symptoms are somewhat atypical in that the burning pain is along the outside edge of my foot, not in my toes. I am having surgery Thursday and want to know: - do they take that part of the nerve out, or re-sect it, or does it depend what they find when they get in there? - Recovery: Will I be able to drive within a couple of days? That's about all. Thank you.
Re: Specific surgery recovery questionsSorry I am not sure but feel the same way. I am going for surgery today and am feeling a bit nervous. I have had trouble with my right foot for many years and a ultrasound showed a 13mm neuroma . I will let you know what i find out. Good luck!!!!
Re: Specific surgery recovery questionsOh, PLEASE let me know how you do, okay? If it's easier to email me rather than go through the forum, you can get to my email address through [moderator note: website address has been removed]
THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK....
Re: Specific surgery recovery questionsAll good so far.... local in my foot not worn off yet but foot elavated. No booty , no crutches.... The incision was made thru the top of my foot which i think helps. I hope that i will heal and be free of pain fingers crossed. good luck 2 morro and i will let you know how i feel in the morning.
Re: Specific surgery recovery questionsSurgery only took 20-30mins. I cant see the incision yet... bandage has to stay on for 3 days to help keep the swelling down. I had no pain overnight but my foot still feels numb. I think incision is only about 1.5 cm long. You are not in australia? just different days on forum. Just days of foot up think maybe i will get bord! Have taken 2wks off work may need more all less have to wait and see. I am a nurse on my feet all day. When do you go!
Re: Specific surgery recovery questionsYou're in Australia??? Wow, isn't the internet amazing!
I am in Texas, in the USA. But I'm originally from Canada. I am a writer for a major newspaper, so fortunately my work won't be a problem in terms of recovery from the surgery....but you, with your foot, and being a nurse...yeah, that is an issue! Please keep me updated! And I will certainly come back and update you. My surgery is tomorrow (April 30) at 12:30 p.m.
Re: Specific surgery recovery questionsit is now lunch time day after surgery. starting to get a little bit of niggling pain but keep taking pain killers just in case. foot not as numb. will go see physio later today. hope all goes well tomorrow. stay in touch.
Surgery update!I am SO glad I have had the surgery. I had it yesterday. The ache in the top of my foot is not nearly as bad as the burning pain I had been living with for eight months. I am quite confident I will have a full recovery. The surgery was not a big deal. My podiatrist told me that the 'trick' in successful MN surgery is to go back far enough on the nerve to where it will rest on muscle, not on bone. She said in 10 years she has had two MN's come come back on patients.
I can't see the incision yet as it's all bandaged up. I can tell it's quite itchy for some reason. That started this afternoon. Will probably take some benadryl tonight.
