Surgery with new painWell, I am back to see if there is anything new that might help me with this pain. Remember I had surgery for MN on my right foot (3rd/4th digits) in December 2006 and then again in January 2008. The first surgery was somewhat helpful, but after about 3 months the pain returned and I began getting cortisone injections again, mostly to dissolve the scar tissue that was a hard rope along the scar. These only helped for very short periods of time and eventually the doctor wanted to the surgery again in the belief that it was a stump neuroma and to see what else might be going on in there. He did the surgery on the same spot and found scar tissue, some nerve fibers stuck to the bones and some crystal-like substance in the area. He said he cleaned it out really well and there was nothing else in there other than what was supposed to be. Now, 17 months after the first surgery, the pain is worse than ever. I also have pain of both feet and ankles. The bottoms of both feet burn on the balls and it is difficult to walk without having more pain afterwards. The doctor has been great. He has really paid close attention to each visit and has no problem with sending me to another doctor as soon as I decide to do so. I have read that MRI does not necessarily show anything and I hate to spend that kind of money just to see nothing there. Can anyone help me with where to go and what to do next? Thanks in advance, SueLynn
