Working OutIt seems as though many here on the forum are runners or worked out in some fashion before they got MN. I have been doing step aerobics for many years but have had to stop doing step do to MN and miss it very much. My pod told be I could only do three types of excercise-elliptical machine, swimming, and biking. I do elliptical but crave getting back doing aerobics. I am wondering what types of exercise people do that still have MN. Thanks.
Re: Working Outdon't tell my doctor: i just keep running; and i wear high heels too... i had surgery on my right foot about 15 years ago; then the other foot two and a half years ago. As my primary doc says:" you just got delt %^#! feet." I've had two cortizone shots post surgery on my right foot, and now i think my left is in need. I think if i make certain to ice, NSAID, and cortizone as needed, early enough in the process, i can stave off additional surgeries. in both surgery cases, i waited way too long to treat and they were both past even cortizone intervention. I'm sure my doctor would approve of the proactive part of my advice, but not be quite so thrilled with the activity and shoewear choices. However, for me, lifestyle is just as important as pain management when making these decisions: use it til ya lose it!
Re: Working OutI too am desperate to get back to my life, thank God for Dr, Hauser in Chicago or many prolotherapists all over the country who can slowly shrink your ligaments in your foot to get back the tightness you had at 21, years of an active lifestyle stretched them, instead of giving up are desires, fix the ligaments and get back to doing it all, not partial. Google prolotherapy.
Re: Working OutWell, you hit the nail on the head with me! I am a heel wearer and I am a runner, or was until my MN. Saw an orthopedic yesterday and he ordered an MRI. We'll go from there I guess. I sure hope I can run again. I run for weight management, and wonder what I will do if I can't resume. I have a stationary bike..(boring!) and I do areobics, which doesn't seem to bother me too much...we also do alot of weights and floor work, so at least I have that. Good luck to you.
Re: Working OutMN is caused by stretching of the ligaments which allos the nerve to be pinched...........I was diagnosed with MN, an a recent MRI backed it up and now the pain is subsiding through prolotherapy, I am beginning to run again !!!!
I am an actual patient, not a marketer :-)
Re: Working Outonly one kind of prolotherapy, but several levels of strength, much like botax or callagen treatments but far far stronger, these shots cause an immense reaction to the body to lay down new collagen right over the stretched ligement or tendon, then it slowly dries out and tightens. Awesome !!!
www.getprolo.com www.prolonews.com www.caringmedical.com Google search "prolotherapy" there are prolo docs in every state !!! but Hauser in Chicago is the best and one of the cheapest, I flew in and out same day, now using a local guy in florida because worst of it is over...............
