Orthotics in Down Syndrome

Our daughter is 5 and the school's PT is recommending orthotics due to her low tone. Her attending physician at Down's Clinic says the role of orthotics in Down's is of questionable value in that it may create problems later. The literature looks mixed. Anybody got a comment?
