Plantar Warts

I thought I had a splinter 3 weks ago in my heel. I tried and tried to cut the thing out but with no such luck. I went to the Dr. today and he said it as a plantars wart and another was starting. Most likely as I cut the other.
I am not sure where to go from here. The two are very deep and feel like a rock with a deep red point in the middle. The Dr. today said I would go directly to having it cut out versus the acid treatment. Any other folks agree with this??

Did you cut it out? And, if so, how are you doing now. I have had mine surgically removed twice since November 2007. I'm just hoping it doesn't come back again. It is so painful!
