Plantar Warts

Can a plantar wart occur on the palm of the hand? My 64 yr old sister, a Type II Diabetic, has been treated for almost two months for a wart on the palm of her right hand. Each time, the Dermatologist digs deeper; each time, she must soak the wound at night, use salve and a bandaid, and remove the covering upon arising. Because it's the dominant hand, she is constantly irritating the area and it not only won't heal, but the Dr. digs at it every couple of weeks. Am I right to be worried about this? Big sis.
