Plantars Warts on Feet

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Jun 16, 2001 10:54 am

A very good friend of mine has asked me to find any information about Plantars Warts that I can for him.

He has had Plantars Warts on his feet for several years now. He has had them surgically cut out, burned off at the Dr.'s office, and removed by laser...but they keep returning. Is there an alternative to these treatments or one that is considerably better or more preferred?

Is the recurrance of Plantar's Warts something to be concerned about? Is there any specific reason WHY they keep returning?

Warts are caused by a virus that cannot be killed. Therefore, they can return quite often. He may want to ask his doctor about taking cimetidine. Cimetidine is a pill that has been shown to prevent the reoccurrence of warts. Although it has not been proven, there seems to be a psychological aspect to plantar warts. What I mean by this is that the more your friend worries about them, the more likely they are to come back. Therefore, positive thinking can be quite helpful. It may not sound very technical, but it is true.
