Plantars Warts

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Jan 29, 2002 2:26 am

My 11 yr. old daughter has several plantar warts on her big toe. She is beside herself. Lately, she is finding more each week. It has spread to two other toes.

What can we do about these warts? She has had three frozen twice but that didn't kill the virus. PLEASE help! Do we need to see a dermatologist or a podiatrist?

Is there any type of medicine that can kill the virus internally?

Thank you for your time!

You should see a podiatrist or dernatologist to have them treated. They can be very annoying and stubborn to get rid of and there are many treatment options available. Freezing them has a lower percentage chance of working than other options for warts on the bottom of the foot. There are internal ways to slow the virus from spreading but I would not use them in an 11y/o child. Nonetheless, bring your doctor to a specialist and she should also make sure she does not pick at them because this can cause them to spread easier. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
