Over two years ago I was playing in a lacrosse game. It was a really cold day and I wasn’t wearing any protection on my legs. As a result I got a severe muscle cramp in my left calf which caused me to collapse and be removed from the game. I was told I had a muscle strain and in a few weeks I would be back to normal. Two weeks later the same accident occured stopping my season. I subsequently went to physical therapy saw too many doctors to count in Boston, had multiple MRIs (which c...Read the full article

Hang in there your not alone thats is number one, when it seems like you are. first I would get yourself a good management specialist that deals with RSD in your area and thanks to this site a bunch suggested a neurologist, What I have learned is do what you can only do, When I was first diagnosed in early 06 after test after test and tons of therapy, I refused to let it keep me down, I refused to take a handicap placard to help me when I could drive. I have RSD in my left leg do to a three break in my ankle. I had therapy, surgery and more surgery each time it spread pain meds did not help. Also I am depressed, which I have been told is normal. The Spinal cord stimulator has had great success with some and most insurances cover it. RSDA website has information on this and many more, also American Hope. Meds have messed my stomach up so thanks to a few on this forum I have looked into the 4f's diet for RSD. and I just recently started it, I do feel slightly better, at least my stomach is not as bad. But it is supposed to help with the pain and like most sufferers I am willing to try anything.
I am right now trying to get my insurance to cover the Hyperbaric Oxygenation therapy, but it is fairly new for RSD with great results. It is a waiting game for most. You also might like to sign up for SSD social security disabilility, sometimes it can take a long time to be accepted, but it lightens the financial burden. And the nice thing is you can do it on line. Keep busy, find a hobby that you can do just sitting. I went back to college for my Psychology degree on-line and I will have my Bachelors this coming May 2010, sometimes with the pain it is hard and sometimes I have to use a voice recognition to voice out my assignments but being on the Deans list for all this time is good for the soul, if your religious, try finding some inspiration from that. I also took up meditation and it helps clear my head and lighten my load at times. The sites I told you about have so much more treatments that are non invasive. I hope this helped a little, I am no expert just a sufferer like yourself who has done alot of research. Good luck and remember someones always here to listen and chat, no matter what the issue maybe.
