Living with RSD is not for Wimps

I was diagnosed with RSD about 15 years ago. I was taking a morning walk and about 2 miles into my walk my foot started hurting. When I got home, my foot started swelling and I could not put my weight on it. I went to the doctor thinking I had a hair line crack. After x-rays, and many tests I was told I had RSD

Unfortunately I started out with RSD and just had pain when I walked on my left ankle and lots of swelling I was in therapy for over a year and a half, and all that did was took the RSD from my ankle to my foot and up my shin, then I had surgery to correct a hole in the bone where it had not healed from my break and it got worse, then I had sensitivity to everything and skin changes, cold and burn that would send me into tears then I had the spine blocks and that gave me spasms. I then went back to therapy for another six months until I seen one of the leading pain management specialists of RSD in my area and he took me out of therapy because they could'nt control the pain and by this time it was half way up my leg. So therapy may work for some in the beginning but they say if you do not catch it in the first year it is hard to contain. I still cannot get the pain and all under control, now do to another Surgery to place a spinal cord stimulator that did not work anyway, my RSD that started out just in my ankle and foot is now all of my lft leg and lower going into my middle back. So for some therapy does work but not in all cases. I am glad it worked for you. Your comment about wishing it on noone I agrree. I had a doctor look at me and tell me it was no big deal we'd get it taken care of in a jiff LOL.
