drs visiti just returned from my family physicians visit. its been a year and a half since i was diagnosed with rsd. he seems to feel that it takes 2 years before rsd goes away. he said wait 6 more months and i should be good to go. your thoughts would be appreciated.
Re: drs visitThat doctor obviously has no idea what RSD is, as there is no 2 year time line of it going away if that was true none of us would have it anymore. The only time line I have ever heard of is the treating before 3 months there is more of a chance it going into remission. I would really be looking for another doctor if ne is the only one your seeing for your RSD. I would print out info on RSD and hand it to him, and just let him know he is lost in the dark with RSD. What he really needs to understand is the longer it goes on the harder it gets to treat not the easier depending on the treatments used. Good luck!

Re: drs visitHello,
I definitely agree with Alaska49! My symptoms began on September 1, 2003. Wow! If your Dr. knew what he was talking about, I would be enjoying life as I once knew it, before RSD, by now!!! Unfortunately, my symptoms have spread rapidly, and I have gotten much worse, instead of better! I don't know where your Dr. is getting his information from, but unfortunately, he apparently knows very little about RSD! Some individuals, are extremely blessed, to have their RSD symptoms go into remission. However, more often than not, this is not the case, especially in adults. Even if someone goes into remission, it is extremely important that they are very careful, not to reinjure the initial site, as well as, making an effort, not to injure themselves anywhere else! Re: drs visitHi,
I totally agree with alaska 49 and Bussey. As Bussey said, if that were the case, I would be back to "my old life". What I would give for that. I have actually been battling with RSD for 20 years; it attacked my left leg first and, I had horrific pain for about 7 years and then could say it did go into remission for several years. However, it returned 3 years ago with a vengenance--this time it completely took both feet, legs and hips. Needless to say, the Dr. certainly is incorrect. I now use a walker to get around and if I go out must use a wheelchair. At 52 years old I feel like I am 80. I know many 80 year old people who are in much better shape than I am. Good luck to you; I wish you Dr. were correct but, I can't hardly believe it. Darlene
Re: drs visitI have to agree with the others, this doctor is not very up to date on RSD. He is actually doing you great harm if he is waiting for this to burn itself out. You need to start treatment as soon as possible to reduce the damage done by a lack of treatment. I credit much of my recovery to early intervention.

Re: drs visitI also agree with the others, I remember my first neurology appointment, after I had been diagnosed with RSD.
This so called specialist, had the nerve to tell me that I did not have RSD, but rather that I was overanxious and that I would be ready to run in a marathon within six weeks. This was almost fourteen years ago, I can walk, but I could not run if I tried. Truth Seeker
