I was diagnosed about 4 1/2 years ago and was put on Nurontin (sic). I took 2 300 mg a day and until about a week ago it worked. Now the pain, burning and numbness are coming back in the same area as before. Has anyone else had this happen and what did you do? Do you go back to the doctor or just live with it? please help.

First, I have never taken neurotin. I would call my doctor and tell about the new/recurring pain. It could be time to change/readjust your meds. Please call them tomorrow.

My husband takes 4-300mg pills three times a day, he also takes a slow release oxicotine every 12 hours. He still has some pain but he can at least waIk a little and sleeps better at night. If he takes less or misses a does all the symtoms come back and he can not sleep at night because of the burning pain and muscle cramps. The medication does make him foggy and forgetful but he feels it is the lesser of two evils.

I'm very sorry that you're having difficulty controlling your pain, once again. Since the neurontin had been working for you up until now, your body may have developed a tolerance for the medication at that dosage. What usually happens at that point, if that is the case, the Dr. will either increase the dosage, or, the Dr. will probably suggest that you begin a different pain medication. In either instance, a trip to the doctor's office seems inevitable. May I suggest, that you most definitely not make any changes to your medication, without consulting with the Dr., who prescribes your pain medication.

Absolutely! I just went back on it until I can get my script for my other medicine next week. Neurotin works wonderfully on the nerve pain. Lyrica and antriptaline which actually works better for me as you are not as sleepy (at least for me as I am on 1200 mg 3 times a day) I have RSD in three limbs.degenerative disc diesase and facets disease and the docs have taken my pain meds away. Let me know how you make out with it. It will make you disese at first, however it after your body adjusts that will go away.
