foot painAfter sitting for an hour or longer or after a night's sleep, I often get out of bed and experience pain in my instep when I start to walk. After a few minutes of walking around, it goes away . . . but those few minutes sure are painful! What's going on? Is there anything I can do to prevent this?
As background, I'm 43, in good health and bicycle 45 minutes/day for exercise. Thanks for your insight. Mary Ann
Re: foot painBicycling had nothing to do with it. It is more a factor of your age. Your muscles are less flexible and when stretched beyond usual pattern the strectch receptors in the muscles are signifying that the muscles are being stretched . After a few steps to stretch the muscles, the foot feels fine right? Don't let it upset you, Just keep stretching the muscles before heavy excercise.

Re: Re: foot painYou probably have what is known as plantar fasciitis. You can read more about this condition under the heel pain section of podiatrychannel.com. You should see a podiatrist so you can be properly diagnosed and treated.
