Foot tendons

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Apr 15, 2002 3:20 pm

I was playing soccer and somehow tripped over the top of my foot and have had a shooting pain on the top of my foot from my big toe to my shin. I hurts when I walk or run or flex/extend my foot. I have iced it and taken anti-inflammatories for a week and it still hurts. How long will it be before it heals and is there anything else I can do to help it heal and relieve the pain?

The muscle tendon complexes of tibialis anterior and extensor hallucis longus run in this area. Hopefully, you just strained them. However, you may ruptured a tendon which would require a cast and even surgery to heal the injury. Therefore, you should see a podiatrist as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis as well as treatment options if you do not feel better soon.
