No TitleI am trying to determine wher or not I need a second opinion or additional help. Three weeks ago I rolled my foot running downstairs - because foot has given me trouble since injuring it 2o years ago, I put an ACE sock on went my power walk, anyway. After removing ACE, it swelled became too painful weight-bearing, so I went to an urgent c center (it Saturday). He said I'd torn tendons in ankle (though I told him it foot hurt), after wearing air cast several days, my foot did feel better, so I started walking on it. Three days later, it became too painful swollen; an orthopaedic doctor said I have two bones (cuboid navicular?) growing toger from an old injury - site is inflamed. I'll try to avoid too many details, problem is after a week in a real cast (three weeks since injury, now) my foot still swells, turns red is painful whenever I st or put it down to sit in a chair. re is something wrong circulation. My doctor said to wear cast, put some weight on it at first, build up to walking, etc... Well, he's out of town two weeks. I need to know - should it still be doing ? swelling is not severe, it is painful I can't st up more than ten minutes at a time. Will permanently hurt my foot? I NEED to exercise again - how long does sort of thing last? Thank considering question!!!
Re:It is normally important to immobilize the foot after a traumatc injury. If this is not done, the acute injury can become chronic and difficult to heal. The injury about the cuboid and navicular does not make sense. They are either fused together or separate. Injury does not cause this relationship to change. Therefore, if this is what the doctor is diagnosing as the cause to your pain, you may want to get a second opinion. From the sounds of your injury, there is a very small chance that you should have to have pain in your foot for the rest of your life. Do not give up until you meet someone who wants to get you feeling better.
