Orthotics: Soft or Hard? Heel height?

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

I have been fitted several orthotics over past few years by different podiatrists I seem to get different philosophies on hardness (flex) of shell also heel height. I have low arches, tight cords have been prone to top of foot pain on foot pronates most. If an othotic is too stiff (hard), is it true will continue to pronate out of it anyway? Will a softer orthotic give support need? How can tell is best ? A soft one makes me feel I'm bringing all of my foot into running motion, it also feels mushy or like I have a leaf spring under my arch. Is good? Some labs also put a fill under arch, especially in ir "Marathon" orthotics. r views on ?
