pain in arch of foot

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 23, 2002 6:35 am

i have been running for nearly three years without hardly any injuries and am careful about all the usual preventative practices. however about 3 weeks ago, whilst out on a training run i experienced a sharp pain tracking across the underneath part of my foot from what i would describe as the central, highest point of the arch, travelling in a more or less straight line to the outside of my foot. this was so painful i had to stop immediately..... it eased slightly after a few minutes, but as i was a couple of miles from home was quite painful by the time i returned.
i rested it etc. tried strapping it up for normal activities which eased it a bit & it gradually improved. a week ago i tried it out on a short run but was pulled up fairly soon with a return of the pain. the pain is intermittent & worse running downhill. help please!!

There are many ligmanets and tendons in this area that need to be examiend by a podiatrist in order to be propelry diagnosed. Also, you may even have a stress fracture so I would certainly see a doctor before trying to run again.
